Apartment Review for Westchester Apartments - Los Angeles, CA

I lived in this apartment building almost 1 year now and let's just say I've had my ups and downs with this place. Pros- Thick concrete walls to block out noise from neighbors, high ceilings, decent size for a studio apt, clean industrial strength carpets. Cons- ROACHES! and lots of them! It doesn't matter how clean you keep your kitchen or living space they're there. The elevator is a certain death trap under constant repair. The water is shut off every other week from 10 am to 5 pm.. especially Fridays. It's not the safest area in the city. All parking is on the street (2 hr day parking) a hand full of other spots are available behind the building for an extra 100/month. And your car still is not guaranteed safe with the sink hole in the parking lot, large dumpsters, kids playing soccer and using cars as goals. All day parking is available on the next street. The apartment manager is rarely in his office, he's out walking his dog most of the time. Luckily the weekend lady is helpful and actually available! Utilities are based on square footage and 90something/month. 100 during the summer. Need your toilet fixed? Wait a week. Need a light fixture fixed? Wait 2 weeks. Need to fix a leaky faucet? Wait a month... might as well do it yourself. At least once a month a live band plays downstairs and doesn't end until the early morning hours. Warned? Nope. It just happens. Although there is a key to enter the building spanish solicitors are allowed in to harass the tenants. The heaters leak gas when turned on. If you have cats, don't open the windows. The screen pop out at the light touch of a finger tap. The list can continue. Do I recommend this place? No. Unless you need a transition.
