I lived in the building for more than three years. Be forewarned - Century West Properties (which owns the building) is extremely rude to tenants. For them it's all about the cash. They cut corners - the city found 40+ code violations found in February even *after* they did a preliminary run-through to try to fix things, and the pool was condemned more than once while I lived there (google "1507 Federal" and "pool" and you'll see the violations). Last year after we brought it to CWP's attention, it still took them a month to get it fixed - in the summertime! Having a pool doesn't do you much good if it's unsafe for swimming. The resident managers are ok - assistant guy is cool, the main one is kind of dim and can be defensive. The staff at the main office are really condescending and dismissive. The final straw for me was when they refused to lower my rent in January after I found an L.A. Times article where the president of the company admitted they couldn't get another unit in my building rented for even close to what I was paying. I asked for the reduction, just to what they rented the other place for, and they fought me on it. In the end they only lowered it by $28 a month after I agreed to sign a confidentiality agreement so the other tenants wouldn't find out that I got this "deal." (They never actually got around to sending the agreement to me to sign before I left.) Bottom line is, there are much better deals in the neighborhood. Do some comparison shopping before you settle on this place. |
