Apartment Review for Barrington Avenue Apartments - Los Angeles, CA

Pros: 1. Convenient location; walking distance to San Vincente Blvd., Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Cons: 1. NOISE--the insulation is so thin I can hear my neighbors' cell phones vibrate, conversations outside by the pool, my upstairs neighbor coughing/clearing her throat, my upstairs neighbor cooking, my upstairs neighbor farting, and my upstairs neighbor having sex (not a pretty sound). Also, the upstairs floorboards squeak EVERY TIME someone walks. Mine squeak too. 2. No A/C at all 3. Old fixtures/hardware (though some units have been upgraded) 4. Gated garage; spaces are narrow, and some are tricky to maneuver into; have seen some cars with damage after owner accidentally scraped car against concrete support pillars in garage; some tenants have bubble wrapped the pillars to protect their cars. 5. The laundry room is gated, but only between the garage and the laundry room. Laundry room is essentially open air, with no gate protecting the laundry room from someone coming from outside the building. 6. No gym (but there is a small, star-shaped pool) 7. Open corridors means insects have easy access to units--I've nabbed a cricket, several silverfish, and a mosquito... Bottom Line: Great location, but this building is old, poorly insulated and far too noisy, and is lacking in amenities. If your finances can handle it, I'd advise you to look elsewhere.
