Apartment Review
Find somewhere else to live.

If you are a college student, no matter how desperate you are to find an apartment close to UCLA, don't pick 655 Kelton. I'm not saying this because I've had a bad relationship with the manager but I've witnessed enough to see that the man is hypocritical, paranoid, and has an extremely short temper. When I moved in, my apartment wasn't exactly the best but the walls were fairly clean, the water and electricity worked fine. But the carpets were dirty and both the kitchen and shower were covered in grime. Like all the other residents have said on this site, it takes forever for maintenance to come and fix a problem, no matter how polite and persistent you are. The rent is substantially high (2400 for a 2 bed, 2 bath) and unless you absolutely HAVE to live here, have at least 5 people with you because trust me, 2400 is alot. The place is dead quiet and fairly "safe" in the sense that the manager Eugene watches EVERYBODY like a hawk. He knows exactly who comes in and out of the building, and if he doesn't recognize you, be prepared for a confrontation. When my roommates and I moved out, it took three months to retrieve our security deposits and we were lucky. Our neighbors didn't even get theirs back at all (to this date). In regards to the manager Eugene T., I know alot of people who both hate him and like him. Those who like him are the people who dutifully paid rent and didn't give him any "trouble" (as in noise or legal issues) but the problem with this is that Eugene can view even the most minor thing ex. (maitenance request) as "trouble" and will react badly. Again, this guy has a very short temper so even if you were the nicest and quietest person, he'll still rage at you if you do something that he perceives as "wrong." While the apartment itself is not bad, I admit the manager and the development company make it EXTREMELY difficult to live in. They are that bad enough to affect your living experience and quite frankly, I'd say don't waste your time or money in this place. Had I known about Eugene early on, before I moved in, I would've went somewhere else. |
